The Aquario de Sao Paulo is located in the Ipiranga district of Sao Paulo, it is the largest aquarium in Latin America and is considered to be a reference in the treatment and display of animals. The themed aquarium opened in 2006 and is home to approximately 3000 specimens of 300 species of animal, giving visitors an insight on the lives of some rare and fascinating animals. The aquarium is divided into sectors that reproduces the natural environments animals, these include the Brazilian rainforest, the valley of dinosaurs, the south pole and the oceanarium. Since 2009, the aquarium has offered a guided night tour which provides a thrilling and unique opportunity to observe the nightlife of many animals, including alligators, giant bats, sharks, snakes and thousands of fish. Dates for night tours appear on the aquarium website and should be checked in advance to ensure availability.
