Mosaic lovers should be sure to visit this historical site containing mosaics dating back from the 3rd up to the 5th centuries A.D. located in Kato Paphos. The mosaics are said to be some of the finest in the eastern Mediterranean. The site is situated on the west side of the harbour and the mosaics are located inside five ancient houses: The House of Dionysos, The House of Theseus, The House of Aion, The House of Orpheus and The House of Four Seasons. Each of these houses contain spectacular mosaics. In 1980, the Paphos Archeological Site was included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list.
The site also contains many other historic monuments such as the Saranta Kolones Castle, Odeion and Agora (an amphitheater that seats over a thousand people and offers entertainment through musical and theatrical performances during the summer) and the Paphos lighthouse.
