On the lookout for a great holiday destination? You’re in the right place. Bamburi Beach provides the perfect place for a calm and exotic getaway. Located on the North Coast of Mombasa in Kenya, the golden soft sand of the beach is washed by clear blue water and sprinkled with palm trees and a riot of colourful flowering plants that will make you want to extend your holidays.
If you are a fan of beaches with clear white sand, blue water and even watersports this place is perfect for you. Bamburi Beach offers everything you could ever wish for.
Unpretentious and ‘wild’, Bamburi stretches out on a strip of land that lies close to coral reefs protected by the Mombasa Marine National Park and Reserve. If this sounds like your idea of an unforgettable holiday, then you can choose from the attractive range of activities that the beach has to offer. Looking forward to a dip? Go snorkeling! If you need more adrenaline, then water-skiing, jet-skiing, or sea kayaking may be excellent options.
Bamburi Beach is surrounded by numerous hotels which host certified scuba-diving courses and have their own watersport centres. Want to go windsurfing or fishing? These are on offer too. At Bamburi you can go wild.
But, what would Africa be without its hallmark, the great baobab tree?! Leaving the beach behind, an enjoyable 30 minutes’ drive across Nyali Bridge will take you to a Baobab Farm (8 km/5 miles away from Nyali Bridge), which is the main inland attraction.
If you’re into scuba-diving, you can explore the wreck of MV Dania, which was deliberately sunk by a Buccaneer Diving crew in 2002 to serve as a diving spot. It now makes a nice home to lobsters, groupers, jacks, and lionfish. Mtwapa is also a good diving spot, 5km (3 miles) away from the wreck.
Don’t miss the big game fishing season taking place between December and March, when a number of trips are being organised to bag sailfish, marlin, kingfish, and wahoo.
